Title: Sleep Walk Author: seraC Email: seraphcelene@yahoo.com A/N: Written for the Farscape Friday Vacation Challenge. Rating: G Archiving: House of Leaves. Everyone else please ask. Summary: A moment on the California coast and John finds the calm before the storm. Feedback: Is like air, highly necessary. Disclaimer: Farscape and all related characters belong to Henson Co, Sci-Fi channel, David Kemper and sundry others. I’m just taking them out for a little exercise. They take the 101 North towards Monterey, top down and DK snores in the passenger seat with his feet propped up on the dash. John turned the radio down once they hit the coast because *this* slice of the ocean is always more beautiful than he ever remembers, and the gleam of sunlight on water is a little like going to church. Somehow the echo of Belinda Carlisle's voice ricocheting between mountain and sea is a sort of sacrilege and John changes the station, finally settling for the sweet, near-melancholy twang of Santo and Johnny. Sleep Walk always reminds John of high school dances and learning to waltz with his mother in the kitchen. DK sleeps through the lazy drift of highway curves and the salty breeze, the thunder and crash of waves. He stirs only slightly when the cars behind them honk because John has slowed the convertible so that he can stare periodically at the Pacific Ocean stretching out beside them. It's vacation. They are feeling fine and soon, one day, the Farscape One will spin itself out across the stars and this will be something that John remembers as he stares down at all of the oceans of the world. end |
